Heart & Hand Community Service Center in South Charleston is the primary provider of a food pantry and emergency basic needs for low income residents of the South Charleston/Alum Creek area. We also help St. Albans residents and serve as an intake site for the Dunbar/Institute Samaritan Center. December 1, 2014, we began processing Dollar Energy Fund applications as another resource for our clients. Our Thrift Store provides an affordable retail alternative for the community with profits supporting Heart and Hand assistance programs. Families that cannot afford even Thrift Store prices are provided vouchers for free clothing and household items.
Program Director and has enjoyed working with the students for nearly five years. Under her leadership, students experience a nurturing environment as they focus on homework, enjoy structured activities, supervised playtime, and exposure to positive role models.

Description
Make a Difference in Your Community!
RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
