2019 Operation Thin Mint Sendoff

You’re invited aboard the USS Midway Museum for an exciting evening on the flight deck, featuring music, interactive booths, and a patriotic pep rally honoring the Operation Thin Mint (OTM) Program, our troops, and Cookie Pros. Operation Thin Mint is a local Girl Scout service project that originated in San Diego in 2002. Since then, our Girl Scout troops and their generous cookie customers have sent over 3 million packages of America's favorite cookies and countless notes of support to deployed troops serving around the world, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, Japan, Korea, and the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean.

Volunteers will support this event by helping set up and manage the Girl Scout San Diego store, supporting the check-in table, dressing up as costumed cookie characters, support our partner booths, and overall helping our council run a smooth event. This is a great opportunity to work with other adult volunteers, girls, and support our nation’s brave military troops.

Available shifts:

Store Support: 2:30-6:30pm OR 8:30-11:30pm

General Set-Up: 4:30-7:30pm

Check-in: 4:00-6:00pm

Cookie Costume: 5:00-7:30pm

Event break down: 8:00-11:30pm

*All volunteers must be able to lift at least 35 pounds and have no restrictions with using stairs.

Parking: $10 per car on Midway (we encourage carpooling!)

Background check: Yes (deadline to apply is 4/29)

Dress code: Comfortable black clothing, no jeans, close toed shoes, and Girl Scouts apparel if you have any
