PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Using carefully assessed curriculum tools, this one-hour program provides emergency-preparedness education to youth in grades 3-5 in school and after-school settings. In a highly interactive format, the progam addresses fire safety, local hazards, coping skills and making a personal emergency kit in a pillowcase that is supplied by the program.
OPEN TIME DAYS
2 Hour commitment per presentation (1 hour set up/clean up, 1 hour presentation) not including picking up and dropping off materials from the Chapter, commuting to and from presentation site, or any additional tasks done at the Chapter.
- Orientation to the American Red Cross
- Disaster Services: An Overview
- Community Disaster Education presenter training
- Pillowcase Project presenter training (including teachbacks)
- Shadowing presentations with experienced presenters
- Recommended: Psychological First Aid
