Sojourn Hospice is seeking kind, compassionate, dedicated people who are interested in serving their community in a meaningful way. Sojourn Hospice Volunteers receive in depth, ongoing training to prepare them for offering services to our clients who are receiving End of Life Care. Our Service Areas are Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, Peninsula and East Bay. Training is provided locally. Sojourn Hospice is committed to supporting every client to live as fully and comfortably as they can each day. Sojourn Hospice Volunteers provide companionship as well as emotional and practical support to our clients and families. Typical types of support include: weekly visits, compassionate presence, reading to clients, staying with clients while the family caregiver takes a rest or some personal time, light gardening or household chores, walking a dog and just "being there". We ask for a service commitment of at least 4 hours a week for a minimum of one year. Schedules are flexible according to your availability and client needs. You must be 18 years of age or older.
