The Mind Program School Corporation (501 (c) 3) is looking for a few good volunteers! We are a grass roots organization working to open a charter high school on the far east side of Indianapolis in the fall of 2017. We are in need of board members with (previous board experience-not required) backgrounds in fundraising, law, finance, IT, higher education, marketing, human resources, research/data, facilities maintenance/grounds operations and education.

Why join our board? Joining a board is an incredible way to volunteer and give back to your community. Our board is unique because we are addressing a dire need within the community. Being a board member will require about 6-8 hours of your time per month.

Whenever you give, you receive! As you give of your time you will receive unlimited benefits. Some of the benefits include: the joy of giving, an excellent public education for students, a great resume builder...the list goes on!

About The Mind Program School Corporation, Inc

Location:

55 South State Avenue, Suite 395, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46201, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide excellent educational options for students from underserved communities that will result in closing the achievement gap. Our programs will provide students with a rigorous experience that will prepare them to excel in college and the world of business.

Description

The Mind Program’s vision is to create a world class high school that will serve students from Indianapolis’ far eastside community. The school will consistently rank as one of the top high schools in the state and will be recognized by the community for its ability to produce graduates who excel academically, are prepared for post secondary education or the workforce and are committed to their community. Our school and graduates will be one of the integral factors that helps to renew the far eastside.

OUR MODEL

STRONG RELATIONSHIPS

Each student is assigned an advisor who stays with them throughout high school. We believe that students who participate in demanding personalized experiences with strong supportive relationships will grow quickly and go farther than expected.

HANDS-ON LEARNING

Student selected creative projects, community service hours, job shadows and internships are required. Students present their projects to a panel of teachers, mentors and community partners. Students are able to show what they have learned and put their knowledge to use.

REAL WORLD EXPERIENCES

The CEO program matches students with a mentor from the business community. Students work with their mentors to make a business plan and start their own businesses.
