Mission Statement

Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) cultivates new generations of strong artists and life-long audiences by creating memorable theatrical productions and experiences and by providing young people the highest quality musical theater and theater training.

Description

In 2012 Adventure Theatre and Musical Theater Center merged in to one organization known as Adventure Theatre MTC. Located in Glen Echo Park (Glen Echo, MD) and The Wintergreen Plaza (Rockville, MD), ATMTC serves nearly 75,000 annually with youth and family theater performances and high quality musical theater training.

Adventure Theatre and Musical Theater Center both sprang up from the D.C. community -Adventure Theatre in 1951 by a group of women from the Community Arts Association’s drama classes who were dedicated to creating theater for children performed by adults, and Musical Theater Center in 1984 as a small group of young artists performing musical theater repertoire in the community - and both developed from the grassroots efforts into professionally managed organizations. In 2011, the staff and boards of each organization realized that their programs and missions complemented each other and that by combining efforts, the resulting entity would serve children of all ages in a consistent and graduated way as well as strengthen organizational capacity.
