Mission Statement

Leaders of Tomorrow is committed to developing positive social development, academic success and creativity in the minds of youth today.

Description

PURPOSE:

Through the Arts, Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center teaches youth the fundamentals of leadership, and how to use their gifts and strengths to promote success and balance in their lives.

WHO WE SERVE:

Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center serves elementary, middle and high school students, most of whom live in challenging environments with little opportunity to express their creativity in focused, positive ways.

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

Since 2003, Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center (LTYC) has supported Baltimore youth by using the arts to encourage academic excellence, leadership, and positive social development.

A 501C(3) organization, LTYC facilitates a Conservatory Model Program in the areas of Theatre, Dance, Music, Spanish, Fashion and Cosmetology, as well as Visual and Creative Arts, in the Baltimore City Public Schools. We also produce a series of artistically-focused Life Skills Workshops, using an interactive model to help students learn about health and nutrition, financial literacy and drug prevention. They develop leadership skills which allow them to avoid gang activity and too-early sexual experiences, and they have a fun, creative experience while doing so. Periodically, LTYC offers a Performing and Creative Arts Summer Program.

The Art Support Program offers a one-on-one approach to provide exposure and skills training in the arts. Through mentoring, LTYC demonstrates the therapeutic component of the arts, while capturing the innate talents and interests of individual youth.

While creating a safe and stimulating artistic environment for young people, LTYC also understands the importance of parenting and family engagement to youthful success. They incorporate the family into the development of each youth through the Parent Empowerment Team program, which uses a clinical approach to bridging the communication gap between parents and their children, and encouraging parents to stay involved in every aspect of a child’s learning.

LTYC is a founder-based, grass-roots organization that is seeking to grow its programs throughout the Baltimore Metropolitan Region.
