"Without you all at the American Cancer Society I do not know what I would have done." -Jim, cancer patient. Ten to twenty percent of newly diagnosed cancer patients do not receive the treatment they need because of lack of transportation. You can help: the American Cancer Society needs volunteer drivers to help people in cancer treatment. Trained volunteers help patients through Road to Recovery, a program assisting individuals who cannot otherwise get to lifesaving treatments. This is not a regularly scheduled commitment; it is based on varying transportation needs and your availability. Even doing one ride a month helps us! If you are employed and would still like to volunteer through Road to Recovery, ask your employer if you could volunteer just a few hours per month.
