One World Arts is in search of a grant and proposal writer. The organization will be producing a new production to premier in March of 2024. One World Arts Inc. will present "Titi Strikes Back", a unique and original rendering of activist and educator Evelina Antonetty. Called the "Hell Lady of the South Bronx" by the NYC Police Department, she empowered parents who faced an 85% dropout rate for their children; ran the first city-wide lunch program offering jobs to gang members, and sought community control of the public schools. She fought to keep Hostos Community College open for disenfranchised students and unequivocally organized the community against the production of "Fort Apache: The Bronx", a film that depicted Puerto Ricans and African Americans through deplorable stereotypes. Featuring an all-woman cast, "Titi Strikes Back" will be a series of presentations geared toward middle school and high school students to be held at a theater for school-time performances. Evelina will touch the hearts of young audiences as she makes a major life-changing decision: In the end, she opts to galvanize young people to fight for their rights.
Writing grants and proposals are part of our fundraising efforts. We need someone familiar with the cultural arts in NYC, knowledge of the city, state, and national grants, and an understanding of the need for the arts in our schools and communities.
