The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Boston is raising awareness and funds to fight for a world without breast cancer. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Volunteer Committee to help plan, organize, and host the 2019 Making Strides of Boston walk.
The 27th annual Making Strides of Boston will take place Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the DCR Hatch Shell. Making Strides is a 2- to 5-mile non-competitive walk that unites over 30,000 walkers from across the greater Boston area community to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors. Funds raised will help to support groundbreaking breast cancer research, provide information and support 24/7, and provide access to mammograms for women who need them.
We have a variety of volunteer positions available, with varying levels of time commitment and skills. Ideally volunteers will be able to attend monthly Committee Meetings (alternating in person and conference calls) and will be able to work both independently and collaboratively with fellow volunteers.
Join us! For more information, please contact us at BostonMAStrides@cancer.org or at 857-327-8110.

Mission Statement
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Description
The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of 2.5 million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society's efforts have contributed to a 22 percent decline in cancer death rates in the US during the past two decades, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates. Thanks in part to our progress nearly 14.5 million Americans who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will celebrate more birthdays this year. We're determined to finish the fight against cancer. As the nation's largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, we're finding cures and ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more. For more information, to get help, or to join the fight, visit cancer.org or call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345.
