Christian Appalachian Project Volunteers serve in a variety of programs seeking to empower low-income and marginalized populations in Eastern Kentucky. In addition to a life-changing experience, long-term CAP Volunteers receive room and board, a modest stipend for reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses, travel reimbursement, vacation time, professional development opportunities, potential student loan deferment, and are eligible to receive health insurance and an AmeriCorps Education Award (subject to funding availability). Volunteers need to begin in August and October of 2016 and January, June and August of 2017. Service placements include child and family development, home repair, hunger and poverty relief, elderly services, volunteer hospitality, disaster relief and more.
