Volunteer Position: e-Newsletter Contributor DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: MRC’s newsletter is published four times a year, typically in winter, spring, summer, and fall. The newsletter is distributed to parents, school personnel and various stakeholders throughout the area. REPORTS TO: Executive Director VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES: The Newsletter Writer will write articles on topics related to MRC activities and related issues. Major responsibilities include: • Use literacy qualifications to create articles for MRC newsletter • Conduct research to obtain factual information and details, utilizing agency resources • Select subject matter based on agency activities and/or ideas expressed by MRC staff and/or board members • Work in cooperation with MRC staff, board and clients to develop stories - conduct interviews with people either face-to-face, over the telephone or by email • Solicit articles or stories for the newsletter and write additional content for the newsletter that is not provided by MRC • Take photos for inclusion in newsletter. • Review content of work • Submit work to the Executive Director in correct format using Microsoft Publisher • Be prepared to rewrite and revise work following feedback from proof-readers
