Thank you for your interest in the CNM Volunteer Program. The goal of the CNM Volunteer Program is to provide support to CNM students by acting as a one on one mentor in Math, Sciences, Basic Literacy or ESL.

In the Math and Sciences, volunteers can work with a student to help build skills in general Math, Calculus (up to Calculus III), Science, Biology, Physics, Statistics, or Chemistry.

The CNM Volunteer Program also sponsors the Adult Literacy Movement of Albuquerque (ALMA). ALMA Advocates provide tutorial services to those struggling with reading and writing, and for those learning English as a Second Language. In addition, some volunteers tutor in GED level Math, Reading and Writing.

The CNM Volunteer Program is committed to student-centered tutoring. Volunteers and learners work as a team to establish and meet student goals and objectives. Volunteer tutors are not expected to be professional teachers; they are coaches who observe, advise, and offer strategies for learning. Learners are guided in assessing and monitoring their progress with the help of the volunteer working with them.
