Lake Katherine

The Pecos Wilderness is in need of a few good volunteer wilderness rangers. Duties include making contacts with the public to educate and inform, clearing trails with a crosscut saw, rehabilitating campsites, documenting invasive weed species, removing trash, sign inventory and installation, and documenting users. If you are experienced with back country camping, backpacking, Leave No Trace, map & compass, and GPS and have a desire to volunteer as a land steward, this may be the opportunity for you!

Each primitive back country trip will range from 2-5 days in length ($25/day). The ideal candidate will be able to carry personal gear, food, and tools while hiking in remote areas of the Pecos Wilderness.

There is no housing provided; local residents are preferred. Crosscut training will be provided.

Current First Aid/CPR training is preferred.

Do you need an internship?

This is great opportunity for gaining experience in natural resource management.
