The Beach Naturalist program is designed to promote interpretation and conservation at tide pools and beaches in our area. The training begins March 20th, 2019. If you like people, enjoy being on the beach, and are passionate about marine education; consider becoming a Rosario Beach Naturalist.
Rosario Beach Naturalists serve as stewards and educators at the Rosario Tide Pools. Volunteers receive Beach Naturalist training on topics including intertidal invertebrates, marine mammals, coastal processes, and more!
Classes will take place weekly in March and April. There is also a weekend field trip. Classes are free. The only payment required is volunteering.
If you would like to become a Beach Naturalist please contact Lauren at deceptionpass.interpreter@parks.wa.gov or 360-675-3767x31 For more information check out our website http://www.deceptionpassfoundation.org/naturalist/

About Deception Pass Park Foundation
Location:
41020 State Route 20, oak harbor, WA 98277, US
Mission Statement
Our mission is to to do something about the disparity between the general funds available to the Park and the enormous backlog of resource protection and education projects. We also provide volunteers to help with Park and Foundation programs.
Description
With diverse ecosystems, a vbrant history, and and iconic bridge, Deception Pass State Park is an ideal place to explore, recreate, relax and learn. Beaches, sand dunes and tide pools flank old growth forests, freshwater lakes, and rocky balds. Deception Pass still bears the impression of the native peoples that once called this area home, and many of the park’s structures were built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Yet despite everything that the park has to offer and a visitation rate that puts it on par with many National Parks, Deception Pass is subject to increasingly uncertain state funding, which seems to come and go like the tides.
That’s where we come in. The Deception Pass Park Foundation was formed in 2005 by a group of park neighbors. Our mission is to provide support for education and resource protection at Deception Pass. With the help of our members and community supporters, we've already accomplished a lot. But there's always more to do. So join us and help us preserve Deception Pass and ensure that park visitors will continue to enjoy its natural and historic wonders.
