Teaching Junior Achievement in a local classroom

Volunteer in a local classroom: time commitment is 30-45 minutes/week for 5 or 6 weeks. Opportunities are available in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt, Aspen, New Castle, Rifle, Silt and Parachute. Simple lesson plans are provided. No teaching experience required.

Junior Achievement provides programs in local classrooms that teach students critical lessons on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and workforce readiness. Lessons are taught by community volunteers.

All lessons involve hands-on FUN activities for the students.

Mission Statement

Junior Achievement empowers young people to own their economic success. Our volunteer-based K-12 programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire kids to dream big and reach their potential. Junior Achievement works with local businesses and organizations to recruit community volunteers who have 30-45 minutes per week to share their work experiences with local students in kindergarten through high school.

Description

Junior Achievement of the Roaring Fork Valley is a local education non-profit that provides K-12 lessons that support the Colorado State Standards. Community volunteers spend 30-40 minutes per week in the classroom, 5-6 times to present the program. All materials are provided by JA and teachers request the classes before the volunteer is assigned to the class. No prior teaching experience required! The lessons include hands-on activities and games to keep the students engaged.

Everyone who volunteers with JA says they LOVED their time in the classroom!
