About

You can learn bicycle repair skills and benefit your community at the new Santa Cruz Bicycle Exchange! The Exchange provides refurbished bicycles to those in need in Santa Cruz County. In addition to keeping unwanted bicycles out of the landfill, this service provides a clean and healthy form of transportation to those who could otherwise not afford it. We use donated bicycles (SCBE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity) and entirely volunteer labor to make all bicycles safe and fully functional. The Exchange distributes the repaired bicycles through existing Santa Cruz County social service agencies, including Barrios Unidos, Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz and the Live Oak School District. See http://scbe.bikex.org for pictures and a map.

The parent of this non-profit is the Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange (http://www.bikex.org), in operation for 23 years. The Silicon Valley Bicycle Exchange delivered 600 bicycles to Santa Clara County social service agencies in 2014.
