Counselors help Medicare consumers, their families and caregivers better understand Medicare options by providing information and referrals regarding resources. Counselors may also be asked to help Medicare consumers enroll in programs that could assist with health insurance costs and reduce prescription drug costs.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to become trained Medicare counselors.
If you are interested in volunteering please contact us. Upon a successful background check and the completion of the three-day training class volunteers will receive certification through the Minnesota Board on Aging as a Health Insurance Counselor with the State Health Insurance and Assistance Program (SHIP).
Volunteers will receive staff support, guidance, and on-going training as you provide assistance and outreach to seniors.
We hold Office Hours the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month in downtown Duluth and the 1st Thursday of each month in West Duluth.
Our next volunteer training class will be held in the first or second quarter of 2019. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator with your questions or to request a volunteer application.
If you are interested in becoming a Medicare counselor and have questions please contact Lee, our Volunteer Coordinator at the Senior LinkAge Line, at 1-800-333-2433, Ext. 81019.
We'll work with your schedule.
