About

Macktown Living History, under the direction of the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County, is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to restore and interpret the cultural life ways of Macktown (originally known as Pecatonic), one of Winnebago County’s earliest settlements. Volunteers are needed for our annual event, "The Gathering," scheduled for Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30th to assist in various areas:

  • Historic Re-enactors
  • Camping Registration
  • Gate Staff/Ticket Takers
  • Education Center Greeters
  • Much More!

Historic character development workshops are conducted through March. Visit our website at www.macktownlivinghistory.com for more information on this event, and contact Kim O'Malley, Volunteer Coordinator, at komalley@winnebagoforest.org to volunteer.
