About

Have you been impacted by Alzheimer's disease? Would you like to get more involved in the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease? If you answered yes, please consider joining the Longest Day Event Committee and help us plan local events and recruit new participants in your area of the state!

What is The Longest Day?
The Longest Day event honors all those impacted by Alzheimer's. It is held on the Longest Day of the year to symbolize the long journey patients and their caregivers face every day. Each participant selects an activity they love or an activity to honor a loved one impacted by the disease. Events take place between September 21 and August 31 each year. Then, on June 21, participants from all over the world join us for a day of honor by sharing their event pictures and stories of the loved ones they honored.

Locally, we've grown from 18 tributes that raised $23,000 in 2014 to 250 tributes that raised nearly $300,000 in 2018. The 2019 event cycle launches September 21 and we will be forming local committees in St. Louis, Springfield, Columbia and Illinois. We also welcome volunteers from other areas to join by phone. We are seeking creative, outgoing volunteers with a wide variety of interests and hobbies to help spread the word about our second signature event and help engage new participants in the event. Full training and support is provided by The Longest Day team!

  1. Fall Volunteer Team (Week of Sept. 10 to Dec. 31) will help plan local kick-off events and set up monthly dine out events January to July.
