We are looking for energetic and committed athletic volunteers to help coordinate a soccer program at Casa Libre/Freedom House on weekends. Casa Libre Is a shelter for homeless youth between the ages of 14-18 located in downtown Los Angeles. Specific responsibilities would include: organizing a sports team for the kids (soccer is strongly preferred, but other activities could be considered), managing practices, games, and tournaments, and supervising the kids during these activities. We would like the athletic volunteer to serve as a positive role model for the kids by encouraging the development of life skills such as teamwork, fitness, and responsibility.
Hours are flexible, but we do ask that volunteers commit to a schedule and at least for 2-3 months.
The Casa Libre/Freedom Home is a project of the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law, Inc. It is a licensed emergency and long-term 14-bed shelter for minors under the age of 18 without homes, including unaccompanied immigrant and refugee children.
The Center is a non-profit, public interest legal foundation dedicated to furthering and protecting the civil, constitutional, and human rights of immigrants, refugees, children, prisoners, and the poor.
