Sponsored by the San Carlos Service Clubs (Rotary, Kiwanis & Lions) and the San Carlos Adult Community Center, the Caring Cupboard is a community food assistance program for older adults in San Carlos.
On 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month
Responsibilities:
Food Pick-up (about 7:00 am)
- Pick-up the meat from Safeway
- Pick-up fruit and vegetables from Lunardi's
- Truck needed (must possess CA Driver's License)
Unload truck (about 8:00 am)
- Help unload groceries
Baggers
- Help sort food and put food in bags
Check in Desk
- Check in clients
- Sign out food vouchers
- Stamp cards
Deliveries
- Deliver bags of food to the homebound seniors
- Car needed (must possess CA Driver's License)
Tray Line
- Help sort and put out food on the tray line
Second Harvest Pick-up
- On two Wednesdays a month pick-up food from 2nd Harvest Food Bank (Truck is needed)

RSVP is a nationwide network of experienced adults who contribute their time and talents to important programs that strengthen their communities. RSVP of San Mateo & Northern Santa Clara Counties is sponsored by Mills-Peninsula Health Services. RSVP is administered by the Corporation for National & Community Service, the federal agency that supports service and volunteering programs to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement. We serve all of San Mateo County and the cities of Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountain View. Palo Alto, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
RSVP provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.

- Time Commitment: Flexible hours; a monthly commitment; approximately 3 to 4 hours bi-weekly.
- Qualifications: Desire to help others; possess patience and strong sense of responsibility; food pick-up and delivery drivers must have a current CA Driver's License. Training Provided: Job orientation will be provided by Center staff.
