Computer Lab Volunteer Tutor Job Description Purpose: Tutor students in a small group setting in order to build their Microsoft Office computer software skills. Works closely with both staff and students to determine support and extent of tutoring necessary. Distinguishing Characteristics: Patience and passion for helping adults. Examples of Duties: Conducts small tutorial sessions for adult students; provides introductory assessments that determine what computer lab areas require additional assistance. Implements lessons and activities to facilitate student's academic improvement. Maintains attendance records and required to documents academic progress. Schedules and conducts monthly conferences with student and professor explaining evaluation of the student's progress. Assists with tutorial program evaluation of needs at Literacy Staff meetings. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of tutoring practices and Microsoft Office software techniques. Skills in both verbal and written communication in English and Spanish. Qualifications: Volunteer instructional experience OR, any combination of experience and/or education with the use of computers at office level from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
