We have two on-going volunteer opportunities and other events throughout the year.
On-Going:
"Thursday Mornings at the Nursery" - You will be driven to the Native Plant Nursery in Middle Ranch and assist with any horticultural needs; transplanting, weeding, watering, etc. Transportation is provided and departs from the Wilcox dirt parking lot (the corner of Beacon St. and Sumner St.) promptly at 7:30am and returns by noon (please arrive a few minutes early). Please reserve your spot 48-hours in advance.
"Windward Beach Clean-Up" - Every second Saturday of the month. Enjoy the great outdoors while combing through the sand for debris. Please reserve your spot 48-hours in advance. Transportation is provided, leaving Avalon from the Conservancy House driveway at 9am.
Yearly events:
Marathon Aid Stations - Assist in setting up the aid station, cut fruit, pour water and Gatorade and cheer on the runners. Approximate time volunteers needed: 7:30am-3pm. Marathons are in March and November.
Catalina Island Conservancy Ball - This is one of the Conservancy’s largest volunteer-driven events! Volunteers needed to help set up the ballroom, help with the live and silent actions during the ball, and help pack up the next day. Even a few hours would be extremely helpful! This is usually the 2nd weekend in April.
Halloween in the Garden - Assist the Education Department with their hugely popular event at the Wrigley Memorial & Botanic Garden. This event is a phenomenal success and volunteers are needed to help set up, assist with games, activities or crafts and assist breaking down/cleaning up. This is on a Saturday just before Halloween.
