WriterCoach Connection (WCC) brings teams of trained volunteers into East Bay middle and high schools to provide one-on-one academic support to students on their classroom writing assignments. Coaches help students develop their ideas and perspectives and strengthen their critical thinking and writing skills. With positive encouragement from a caring adult, students become confident and competent thinkers and communicators. "It's the highlight of my week," says one WCC coach. Students complete and turn in more assignments and teachers report dramatic improvement in content. WCC's in-depth training provides the strategies and practices you'll need to be a terrific coach. Make a commitment of 1-2 hours during the school day, a few times per month, and enjoy the satisfaction of helping students succeed. We welcome volunteers from varied backgrounds, including parents, grandparents, college students, working and retired people, and community members. Volunteers must complete the WCC training to become a coach. For more information and to register, please visit:
