Real Adventure for Real Change! Are you looking for... a genuine and secure NGO to work with? an adventurous experience in Bolivia, to be in touch with real local people and culture? an environment where you can learn and practise Spanish? BiblioWorks is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity which has established twelve libraries in poor communities in and around the beautiful city of Sucre, Bolivia. We believe that healthy communities require healthy minds, and our sustainable libraries act as a vital way for communities to develop through literacy and education. We need volunteers to work as English Teachers as part of our reading and education programs. If you have experience working with children, fluency in the English language, and would enjoy helping these children to improve their education, please come and help us! This experience is beyond rewarding, as you will have the opportunity to have a direct influence on the lives of children here in Bolivia and will be personally responsible for putting smiles on their faces! Most of the children and youth in the communities we work with speak Quechua as their first language and Spanish as their second. Therefore, they have almost no exposure to English. However, since children have the extraordinary ability to absorb languages, they will benefit greatly from English teaching. Some of our libraries are directly affiliated with schools, so there are opportunities to teach alongside Bolivian teachers, whereas other lessons take place in the libraries themselves. We have materials for you to use, but are keen for volunteers to bring their own enthusiasm, passion and ideas to their teaching. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to immerse yourself in the community and the Spanish language. We would love to welcome you to our team here in Bolivia!
