NVFS needs a Music & Movement volunteer to engage students and get them moving, develop their ability to focus, promote leadership and creativity, encourage cooperation, and cultivate listening skills.

Duties:

  • Encourage the children’s creativity, coordination, balance, spatial awareness and positive body image
  • Teach students songs, dances and incorporating games to keep their attention
  • Lead fantasy play and games where children are able to imitate animals, cars, etc., dance with props such as streamers and ribbon sticks, navigate obstacle courses
  • Teach movements inspired by diverse forms of music, cultures, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Personally engaging, friendly and comfortable working with toddlers
  • Have exceptional energy, good communication skills and affable with children in a class setting
  • Previous work with music and movement, mommy-and-me style programs, and/or early childhood development is helpful
  • Able to create and execute age-appropriate sessions
