Older adults in Center City, Philadelphia want to 'age in place,' or remain in their homes and communities as they grow older. Penn's Village is a non-profit organization located in Central Philadelphia that aims to help older adults meet this goal. With the help of volunteers, Penn's Village makes aging in place possible.
Volunteers are needed for driving (to medical appointments, grocery stores, etc.), friendly visiting, light household tasks, administrative and technical assistance, and committee work (marketing, communications, etc).

Penn's Village is an innovative, non-profit organization created to enhance the quality of lives for residents in Center City Philadelphia neighborhoods. Lives are enhanced through basic services such as grocery shopping, rides to the hospital or doctor’s office, companionship for the lonely, running errands, home repairs, computer support, etc. Penn’s Village was founded two years ago to help meet such needs and to create volunteer service opportunities for all residents.
Penn’s Village has three goals:
-To help those growing older remain in their homes, comfortably and enjoyably, for as long as they’d like
-To provide select services to busy residents as they balance personal and professional responsibilities, and
-To help foster a spirit of neighborliness and community belonging.
Volunteers are vital members of the Penn’s Village team.
We have a variety of volunteer opportunities to suit different interests, skills, talents and schedules. There is no required time commitment. Emails are sent out to volunteers containing members' requests. Volunteers respond back by email if they would like to complete the request. Volunteers are as active as they choose to be. Penn's Village can also contact volunteers by telephone if email is not an option.
All volunteers must permit Penn’s Village to perform a criminal background check. All volunteers who agree to transport members in their automobiles must also agree to a driving record check, and show proof of insurance.
Whether Volunteers have direct contact with members or assist behind the scenes they enhance the work of Penn’s Village and thus strengthen our community.
We'll work with your schedule.
