REAP Workday at Kilbuck Bluffs

Restoration. Education. Appreciation. Preservation.
Nurture Nature at a R.E.A.P. Volunteer Workday!

R E A P is a group of dynamic volunteers from all walks of life who focus on building a culture of stewards to ensure that the ecosystems within the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County remain healthy for generations to come. All ages are welcome and experience is not required!

We offer hands-on habitat restoration training - brush and invasive plant removal and native seed collection - plus enriching conservation education on the 3rd Saturday of every month between May and September from 9 a.m. until Noon. Participant names are entered into a drawing for a chance to win a prize!

Join us for our last workday of the season on September 19th at Cedar Cliff Forest Preserve (7901 Kishwaukee Road, Stillman Valley): We’ll plant native greenhouse plugs and then hike to the bluffs! Registration is required and limited due to COVID-19. RSVP HERE

Families are welcome! We encourage parents/guardians to participate alongside their children, so please, no "drop offs." The person responsible for the child’s transportation should plan to stay on the premises during the workday.

It is important to remember:

  • We will practice social distancing, but feel free to bring a face covering. If you are sick, PLEASE stay home.
  • For sanitary reasons, please plan to bring your own water, snack and work gloves.
  • Proper off-trail outdoor workday attire recommended - long pants, long sleeves & sturdy, waterproof shoes (no sandals or flip-flops, please)
  • Wear your insect repellent and sunscreen.
  • In case of extreme weather (storms, excessive heat, etc.) our workday will be canceled - check our website ( http://winnebagoforest.org/volunteer/) and Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/forestpreservesofwinnebagocounty/) for event cancellation information
