Multi-family buildings in the Washington DC region are plagued by abandoned bikes in their bike rooms, taking up space needed by active cyclists. Tenants and building managers find and call us periodically, but many are unaware of our program and our free pick-up service. We have publicity materials, including a how-to guide to establish that bikes are abandoned, information on Bikes for the World, etc. But we need a volunteer skilled in on-line research to identify and contact individual building managers, management companies, and other institutions, via email, to make our information available.

Description
Bikes for the World is a network of individuals, community service organizations and faith communities, and businesses dedicated to collecting good-quality bicycles for productive re-use in developing countries. Bikes for the World has collected and donated more than 100,000 bicycles in 13 countries, including Sri Lanka (tsunami recovery), Ghana (micro enterprise development), Namibia (delivery of health services and micro enterprise development), Panama (training and employment for individuals with disabilities), Costa Rica (micro enterprise development), and Guatemala (youth development & vocational training).
