Prom Dress Giveaway

We are launching our 21st Prom Dress Giveaway season on Monday, January 20 from 10:00 AM -2:00 PM. You're invited to join us as we sort donated items. Since 2003, the Enchanted Closet has offered a boutique-style setting and provided personal shoppers - people who are volunteers - to help each girl choose that perfect dress, accessories and makeup for their special night. We have been able to outfit nearly 9500 girls largely because of the support of the public. We will be collecting items for the Prom Dress Giveaway to benefit metropolitan Atlanta girls. Items in need include: New or gently used formal dresses that are clean, in good condition and teen appropriateProm accessories such as jewelry, handbags, wraps and shoes Gift certificates to restaurants, florists, limos, and hair and nail salons, toiletry and goodie bag items-bath gels, lotions, hair and skin care products. Bring your donations and help make Prom Night an Enchanted One!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Enchanted Closet is to physically, mentally, and emotionally outfit Metro Atlanta high school girls from low-income families through programs that prepare them for social and professional milestones.

Description

In January 2003, Enchanted Closet www.enchantedcloset.org was formed as a community service project to outfit disadvantaged girls for their prom. The working philosophy was that no high school girl should miss this rite of passage because she could not afford a dress. It was a simple principle that resonated in the Atlanta community and sparked an outpouring of support. Enchanted Closet received donations of hundreds of formal dresses and other social and professional clothing during a three-month collection drive. To date, Enchanted Closet has given away over 8000 prom dresses and dresses for other special occasions such as homecoming and ROTC Balls. Additionally, the organization has enhanced the self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-sufficiency of over 1000 through the GIRL$ Service Learning Program. These programs are held each month with the exception of July.
