Dardenne Creek Monitoring Days -May 2, 3-2020
Greenway Network, Stream Team 463, sponsors Dardenne Creek Monitoring Day in the spring and again in the fall.
Through the years this program has provided an opportunity for local teachers, their students and Stream Team Volunteers to share their excitement for clean water by obtaining grab samples from over twenty sites along the 27 mile watershed.
The samples are tested to determine dissolved oxygen, nitrates, phosphates, pH, turbidity, ammonia, temperature, conductivity, stream discharge and collection of macros. The data gathered provides an excellent snapshot of the water quality of this stream. All information is shared with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Water Protection Program.
All monitor volunteers must practice the best protocol as possible to preserve the integrity of all data collected. To help eliminate errors in collecting protocol, Greenway Network, Inc. asks that volunteer site LEADERS have, at least, Missouri Stream Team Level I Monitoring training.
Lunch is available at about 1:30 pm on Sunday at Greenway Network's office. All participants enjoy a free lunch courtesy of the Greenway Network, Inc.
Always dress appropriately for the weather and please bring gloves that you do not mind getting dirty.

Mission Statement
Greenway Network is a grassroots, volunteer based organization. Our mission is to conserve natural resources, encourage sound management of the watersheds and protect the quality of life for the residents of the greater St. Louis area.
Description
Our Mission is to conserve natural resources, encourage sound management of the watersheds, and protect the quality of life for the residents of the St. Louis Metro area. We do that by creating a network of communication and consensus among citizens, government leaders and other organizations that share our goals. Most of all, we encourage everyone to 'act locally' to make it happen.
Our region is rich in water resources and native wildlife habit. It is a land of abundant river bottoms, fragile wetlands, tranquil riparian woods, and rolling hillsides along soaring bluffs. But, our region is also one of the fastest growing areas in the Midwest. Our western area population has more than doubled in the last twenty years!
We believe people can live in harmony with nature if we plan and make decisions wisely. Greenway Network is your "eyes, ears, and voice" in that process, working to conserve what is naturally best about the St. Louis Metro area.
We sponsor St. Charles County Mission: Clean Stream and Race for the Rivers.
We support Missouri Stream Team by performing water quality testing, removing invasive species, and restoring riparian areas of our streams by planting trees, shrubs and grasses.
We participate in Public Lands Day and help develop parks and trails.
We provide environmental education presentations to the public and in our schools.
