Event Info: The Annual Wounded Hero 5K is an event located in Warminster Pennsylvania to bring the community together in a show of support for our nations wounded Heroes. The day is full of motivation and inspiration. We strive to make this a fun filled patriotic family event complete with the 5k, a one mile fun run, face painting, balloon clowns, moon bounce, food and live entertainment and most importantly our wounded Heroes as guest speakers.

JOB SUMMARY:
- Seeking members for the event planning committee for the 7th Annual Wounded Hero 5k
Time: Meetings are held in the evenings on a regular schedule between Jan and June 2019
SALARY: None - Volunteer.
Volunteer Duties:
- Event Planning and Execution
- Contact auction donors/sponsors/vendors and artist as needed
- Work with Events Manager and/or key volunteers to coordinate event logistics
- Keeps guest lists and event data up to date
- Physically receive, catalog and organize auction items
- Write auction descriptions
- Work with Special Event Manager to procure and organize supplies for events
- Assist with multiple complex mailings or emails
- Event planning, promotion, and on site execution including set up and tear down
SKILLS DESIRED:

- Reliable
- A go- getter/pleasant personality
- Creative and detail - oriented
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- A "can do" attitude and desire to learn
- Ability to follow instructions and also work independently
- Sense of humor is a must!
- If assisting with manual labor - Physical Requirements: Must possess the strength to lift and carry materials weighting at least 50 lbs. without assistance.

Support wounded, injured and ill service members, veterans, their caregivers and those that aid in their recovery by providing assistance and outreach in their recovery, comfort and morale, and through advocacy, education and promotion of their circumstances.
Description
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, MD is the first stop for many of America's returning wounded service members from Iraq and Afghanistan. Historically, Known as "the amputee ward", the orthopedic Ward 57 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, now 4th Floor at WRNMMC, houses some of the most severely injured patients for weeks or even months. The painful sacrifice of losing one or more limbs is the new battle these service members and their families now fight.
OPW57 also supports wounded soldiers and their families at various Warrior in Transition Units around te country.
Operation Ward 57 was started to have a direct way for individuals and companies to show their support and raise funds for these courageous men and women who have given so much.
OPW57 is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Tax ID: 61-1521946. This is a grass-roots, volunteer effort. Each person who buys a T-shirt, not only shows their support, but directly contributes to items for the Ward, patients, family members and staff.
