About MedShare International
Location:
3240 Clifton Springs Rd., Decatur, GA 30034, US
Mission Statement
MedShare International is dedicated to recycling surplus medical supplies and equipment for use by healthcare institutions in developing countries. To achieve this mission, MedShare International collects quality medical supplies and equipment that are still valuable but no longer in demand in the United States due to procedural excess, technological change, regulatory requirements, or production overage, and distributes them to healthcare facilities in targeted developing countries.
MedShare International affords U.S. healthcare providers and suppliers an environmentally and socially responsible alternative to disposal of medical materials, while simultaneously aiming to ensure that one hundred percent of the medical materials it ships are needed and can be used.
MedShare International's programs serve healthcare facilities in developing countries, regardless of their religious or political affiliations, which provide medical care to the needy.
Description
In the United States, hospitals generate 5.7M tons of medical waste. MedShare International, a 501-(c)-3 non-profit organization, collects the unused/unexpired supplies and equipment and, through its unique online ordering system, sends exactly what hospitals in developing countries need the most. MedShare offers U.S. healthcare providers and suppliers an environmentally and socially responsible alternative to throwing away medical materials. Since its launch in 1998, MedShare has shipped over 1,000 forty-foot containers of medical supplies and equipment and distributed these materials to needy hospitals and clinics in over 100 countries around the world.
