The Afterschool Program Assistants work with program staff to facilitate a positive learning environment for children ages 6-12 years old. Eligible children stay in the YWCA’s Emergency Housing Shelter and are enrolled in the strength-based Afterschool Program. The YWCA values diversity and champions anti-racism policies and program delivery.
Program Assistants promote YWCA values, increase the children’s self-esteem and self-worth, foster interaction between the children and their peers, and improve their social, emotional, and problem-solving skills. Homework assistance and small group tutoring will also be offered by Program Assistants.
