Meal Production/Tray Lines
Help us prep and package meals in our beautiful state of the art commercial kitchen!
You will be taking part in prepping and packaging meals to be delivered to local seniors.
Kitchen is currently producing approximately 1600 meals daily!
We will play upbeat music that spans the genres and generations to generate a happy and fun atmosphere.
Seeking core volunteers(12 per shift) that can commit to one day a week of their choice or floater volunteers that can come whenever they have the time and inclination, as long as they book a day in advance.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.
Available Hours:
Mondays through Fridays
Groups: 8am - whenever meal production wraps up between 10:30-11am. Individuals can come as early as 7am if you'd like. However, if arriving before 7:30am you must enter at back of building, as offices are still closed. Suite 280 opens at 7:30am.
Location:
Kitchen at Meals on Wheels San Leandro. 2235 Polvorosa Ave. Suite 260, San Leandro, CA 94577. We are located in the Polvorosa Business Park off Doolittle Drive.
Attire:
Long hair should be tied back. and able to fit under a hairnet. No open toed shoes, shorts or flip flops allowed in the kitchen. Sorry!
We will provide the aprons, hairnets and gloves.
You will provide the physical labor.
Together we will provide the nourishment and love!

Description
SOS Meals on Wheels is the largest program of it's kind in the East Bay, feeding over 1,800 seniors a day!
Every weekday we prepare over 1,800 chilled nutritious meals to seniors who are over 60 years of age and unable to purchase or prepare food for themselves. In addition to transporting the food, Meals on Wheels’ volunteer drivers provide daily check-ins for these vulnerable elders, assistance with small tasks and remembrance on special occasions such as holidays. If seniors need weekend food, they receive frozen meals at the end of the week. We have modified our delivery method during the health pandemic to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible to continue our essential service!
Do you have just one weekday in which you can spare and hour or two, either late morning or early afternoon? If so, we certainly need the help!
