i-Trek is looking for a volunteer website assistant who is interested in assisting in managing and organizing our website. The Website Assistant position provides an opportunity to develop relevant skills in web content design, creation and editing while supporting the web and marketing goals of the organization. Projects will be determined on an ongoing basis by the Public Relations Committee based on current needs.
i-Trek looks for volunteers that are willing and able to work on their own, get things done without much hand holding and be self motivated. In return you get the opportunity to help highly motivated students that are looking for someone to give them a chance to achieve their STEM goals. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and universities. They want to continue to pursue graduate degrees in STEM but struggle due to the limited resources provided to them. You have the opportunity to make a huge impact in their lives with a few hours of your time.
In order to address the lack of diversity among STEM degree recipients (science, technology, engineering and math), i-Trek (I Turn Research into Empowerment and Knowledge) has developed a platform that aims to provide underserved and underrepresented students with the skills and resources necessary to succeed in STEM undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The underrepresented and underserved communities include students of lower income, women, and minorities who often face obstacles in obtaining equal support or access to the resources required for success in STEM. It is through community outreach and the Trek Mentorship Program that i-Trek aims to encourage a high level of interest in STEM and create a pipeline for increased participation in those areas of study.
