Our Suiting Program is the first of many steps in a woman’s path towards self-sufficiency and the actualization of her professional goals. Once they have secured an interview, women are referred to us from one of our local partner agencies. On their first visit to Dress for Success Hartford, Personal Shopper volunteers help them to pick out a suit ensemble, shoes and accessories for their interview. Not only does a professional appearance influence the final decision of a potential employer, but it also fosters confidence in the woman wearing the suit. After securing employment she is invited to return to our offices to receive additional clothing.

We need terrific, energetic, positive people to help our women look and feel fabulous. Spend time giving another woman the best thing she can wear to a job interview: confidence.

Personal Shoppers assist clients on the following days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Mission Statement

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Description

Founded in 1998, Dress for Success Hartford has served more than 7,700 women throughout our state. Our organization stems the underlying cause of cyclical poverty through grassroots programs that produce long-term solutions. By offering professional apparel, career development services, and ongoing employment retention programs we address the needs of our clients and promote economic security and self-sufficiency.

In order to ensure that we are serving those most in need of our support, every woman is referred to us through a network of partner agencies. These agencies include a variety of educational institutions, reentry programs for the formerly incarcerated, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, rehabilitation programs and more. We work with more than 140 partner agencies throughout Connecticut.
