About Austin Comets Athletics

Location:

Mission Statement

Austin Comets Athletics is a sports fraternity that provides mentorship for youth to develop their skills, health and moral character for the welfare and well-being of the general public.

Description

With initial financial commitments from his own personal income, Lorne Massie founded the Metro Mentorship Initiative (EIN: 27-4083907) in 2010 which is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Lorne formed this organization out of a common belief that many people in their community lacked meaningful mentoring relationships that could help with guidance and direction. Board members of the Metro Mentorship Initiative developed Austin Comets Athletics, the subsidiary flagship program, in the winter of the 2011 year. The program is a mentoring sports club that provides a high quality athletic program for urban youth that allows them to compete and pursue excellence in the development of their skills, health and moral character. Since its implementation in 2013, Austin Comets Athletics has served many youth (50+) for over 5 years in the Austin neighborhood.

Our agency is comprised of executive, managerial and young entry level professionals who truly have a passion to come together as an effective team and work with youth and children between the ages of 5-21. The board chairmen and it’s members provide strategic leadership in operations and fundraising. Volunteers who commit to our organization are the most vital part of our success.
