Learning to read can be challenging for some kids. Add blindness or low-vision to the mix and it can feel impossible. Yet literacy is one of the most critical skill sets a person must have. As a certified therapy dog team, you already know the benefits of connecting with people in need. But did you know that when kids read to your dog, it actually creates a physical reaction in them, lowering their heart rate and helping them to relax and focus on reading. Volunteer with us and we'll pair you with a Braille or low-vision student for some reading fun!
BookTime Buddies takes place every other Saturday from 10 a.m. - noon at Nevada Blind Children's Foundation Learning Center. You can volunteer for one Saturday or multiple Saturday's! Just let us know your interest and we'll find the perfect reading partner for you.
