SAFe Rescue is searching for members of the public who have cat care experience in a professional or volunteer capacity! Cat Care generally requires 30 hours on Clean Team prior to moving to Cat Care but SAFe has introduced an expedited placement option that waives the 30 hours for those who have a minimum of 6 months professional or volunteerexperience!

Role Purpose: To help make cat spaces clean and comfortable for rescued cats as they await adoption.

Requirements: 17 years or older, able to work independently. Be able to commit to a weekly 2-3 hour shift for 3 consecutive months of service. Be able to squat, bend, twist, lift and stand for entire shift. Be comfortable with direct contact with cats and kittens, dirty litter boxes & food bowls, and cleaning agents such as bleach, peroxide, and trifectant. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Willingness and ability to learn the following tasks:


  • Spot clean or sanitize cat cages daily for each cat according to set protocols.
  • Prepare clean litter pans, food and water bowls and put them in correct cages.
  • Clean dirty litter boxes and food bowls after cage cleaning is complete.
  • Observe general cat behavior and make note of important changes for staff.
  • Keep supply prep room cleanly and sanitary.
  • Sweep and mop after cage cleaning is complete

Seattle Area Feline Rescue, located on the border of Seattle and Shoreline, at 14717 Aurora Ave. N, saves homeless cats and kittens and finds them loving homes. We are a non-profit, no-kill rescue connecting people in our community to their new furry family members. Visit our welcoming Adoption Center, featuring specially-designed and ventilated enclosures to keep the kitties happy and healthy. (You won’t even know there are any litter boxes in the building!) Here, you can fall in love in one of our adoption rooms and take home your new best friend.

Seattle Area Feline Rescue relies on the support and dedication of volunteers in order to save the lives of cats and kittens. We simply couldn’t do the work we do without the support of every cat rescue volunteer!
