Massage Therapy Volunteers are encouraged to use their skills in order to help patients experience relaxation and rejuvenation through massage--often after first researching diseases to determine any known contraindications.

Volunteers will offer private massage sessions in our Woodstock Hospice Center and, whether you engage in massage, Reiki, or another modality, these therapeutic options help our patients’ symptoms (e.g., stress, depression, muscle tension, poor circulation) disappear very quickly.

The use of massage has been proven to relieve these symptoms, and Massage Therapy Volunteers can also offer suggestions on positioning during and/or after treatment. Our ultimate goal is to use skilled volunteers to bring comfort to our patients and peace of mind to their family members, who can see difficult days become less frequent.

Shifts are available every day of the week and typically last 2-4 hours.

Orientation & Training

After our 5.5-hour orientation, Massage Therapy Volunteer applicants will continue their training through engaging online courses. Applicants must also get a 2-step tuberculosis (TB) test and submit to a background check.
