COMPASSUS FRIENDS: (works directly with patients and family) Most hospice volunteers feel personally rewarded through their offering of time, energy and compassion when they see how much they are able to help patients and families. Patient/family support includes compionship to the patient and respite for the caregiver that include friendly visits, writing letters, reading to patients, light housekeeping, running errands, or preparing a favorite meal or dessert for the patient/family.There is an 8 hour orientation and we run a background check. Volunteer applicants must be at least 18 years of age. The volunteer activity takes place wherever our patients live (in their home, nursing facility or independent living agencies). The volunteer will be able to set their own time to volunteer with their assigned patient or as the patient/family needs. (A minimum of 1 hour a week is requested).CLERICAL VOLUNTEER: (helps in our Killeen Office) The Killeen Hospice Compassus office is looking for you to help with answering the phone, filing, special office projects, setting up patient charts, etc... Hospice is a service that helps people who are facing the end of their lives here on earth. Your volunteer hours would enable Hospice Compassus to do a better job at serving our patients, and their families.There is an 8 hour orientation and we will run a background check. Volunteer applicants must be at least 18 years of age.The volunteer activity takes place in our Killeen Office at 2201 E. Central Texas Expy #104, Killeen, TX. The volunteer would be requested to work a 2 - 4 hour shift during regular business hours M - F 8am to 5pm.
