Pet Therapy

Volunteer with your dog and make a real difference in the lives of patients, caregivers and their families. A friendly visit with your dog is able to bring connection, joy and companionship to a patient's life as well as their caregiver.

Your dog will need to pass the "Canine Good Citizen" test. The average cost to completing the test is $25. Interesting and practical volunteer training is provided and required for the dog owner.

Visit times are flexible. We are seeking volunteers in Boulder, Broomfield, Westminster, Arvada, Erie, Brighton, Denver, Longmont and other front range communities.

The time commitment could be as little as a couple hours a month, depending on the volunteer's schedule and patients needs.

Mission Statement

Compassionate Hospice Care is guided by a tradition of personal and clinical excellence. We believe that serving patients, their families and caregivers with compassionate and life-affirming end-of-life care in the community setting is the most important activity of the organization. The hospice team reflects a spirit and idea for caring that emphasizes comfort, dignity and respects autonomy for each person.

Compassionate Hospice Care is looking for dedicated volunteers who desire to provide companionship and comfort to those receiving hospice care and offer tangible support to those caring for them.

No experience is necessary. Volunteers are provided with an interesting and practical orientation. Essential characteristics of an effective volunteer include compassion, dependability, trustworthiness, patience and flexibility.

If you have recently experienced the death of a loved one, you may serve administratively in our office but need to wait 13 months post your loss to serve as a companion to patients.
