ACOP is a non-profit organization providing underprivileged and at-risk children an afterschool music program. In essence, ACOP gets kids off the streets and exposes them to culture by teaching them how to play in an orchestra setting. They are engaged in the community, playing at several events, and have been recognized by many county and city commissioners, as well as community leaders. There is a variety of areas in which volunteers can not only earn their required community service hours and assist a local non-profit, but also meet and learn about several key players in the Miami Dade County area. ACOP is looking for local volunteers to help us organize events, help with administrative duties, data-entry using Microsoft Excel and Word, Videography, Photography and setting up the Sound System.

Mission Statement
To use music as a tool for Peace and Social Change!
Description
The goal of the American Children's Orchestras Program is to provide disabled, underprivileged, and at-risk children in hard-to-reach communities an alternative to poverty and violence, through music. By providing disadvantaged children with instruments, free music lessons, and positive role models on a daily basis, our vision caters as much to the children's artistic development as it does to the idea of music as a tool for social change. ACOP targets communities with acute needs and social problems. The children have demonstrated good citizenship, shown improvement in cognitive skills, learned to work in groups, and built self-esteem, as proven by research in the music education field.
ACOP has been successfully awakening the youth's competitive spirit, stimulating the children to improve their own abilities and promoting opportunities to build cultural understanding and good will. As quoted by our president Maida Santander, "ACOP'S wish is that every child & parent in the world will have the opportunity to be involved in the joy of music". We hope you will understand the significance of our project and that your assistance will enable us to continue to grow and effectively serve the youth of our impoverished community.CAUSE AREAS
