CLINTON-GRATIOT HABITAT RESTORE VOLUNTEER POSTING The Habitat for Humanity ReStore sells new and used overstocked and discontinued building and home improvement materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors, businesses and individuals. These donated items are sold to the public or used in the construction of Habitat homes. All profits from the Habitat ReStore help build Habitat for Humanity homes in partnership with our community. Our ReStore location is at 2352 N. US 27, St. Johns, MI 48879. This location provides us an opportunity to engage the community and provide discounted goods to the public.

We are always looking for volunteers who would like to volunteer on a regular basis at the ReStore. Understanding that specific positions can shift based on what is needed on a daily basis, we like to train people to have a variety of expertise in all positions, and some positions can overlap. But we understand that some people may not feel comfortable with some things, so we will gladly accommodate your needs and strengths.

Spots That Need Help: While every day brings new opportunities and jobs to be done at the Habitat ReStore, there are recurring chores and tasks for volunteers. These include:

Customer Service-This person will help customers find products throughout the store. Helpful if you have a background in retail.

Fixer-This person will help with fixing donations that need some minor repair. A background in repairing electronics, combustion systems, and even minor furniture repair is helpful. This position would be great for someone who enjoys troubleshooting problems and fixing them.

Cleaner-This person will help clean items that we receive through donation. A great position for someone who has an attention to detail.

Volunteer times: Tuesday-Friday 9 AM - 5:30 PM and 9 AM - 3 PM Saturday. We continue to look for volunteers throughout the entirety of the day, but we especially need those in the afternoon. We also have a shortfall of volunteers on Saturdays.

Contact: If you are interested in volunteering at the Clinton-Gratiot-ReStore, contact: Dawn Parker, Volunteer Coordinator, at 989-227-1771, ext. 4 volunteer@habitatclinton.org

Important information:

1. All Habitat ReStore volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and must be accompanied by an adult if under the age of 18.

2. All of the tools and equipment that you will need will be provided for you.

3. Wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Layers are usually best. Wear hard-soled shoes or boots if you have them. All shoes must be closed-toed.

4. If you are volunteering with us to fulfill a community service requirement, it is your responsibility to keep track of your hours. Make sure you sign in and out on the master ReStore Volunteer sheet AND have someone sign your sheet on the day you volunteer.

5. All volunteer positions will be subject to a background check and orientation prior to working in the store
