ORGANIZATION: Be A Mentor, Inc.

Roots International Academy seeks dedicated adult role models to mentor struggling students. Mentors must be willing to commit to working with students during the school day once a week for the duration of the school year. Mentors will be responsible for helping students develop impulse control, focus and perseverance skills by facilitating intentional skill-building sessions and modeling positive behaviors in the classroom.

Description

The Be A Mentor Program trains Mentor Site Coordinators, pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
