Emergency Room Volunteers assist staff with stocking supplies, checking on patients, distributing warm blankets, cleaning equipment, preparing rooms for the next patients, and escorting patients to various areas of the hospital. This is great experience for someone who is interested in helping others, or learning about opportunities in the medical field.
Volunteers serve four hour shifts once per week. We have flexible shifts and we will work with your schedule.
If you are a Tulsa Achieves Student, service hours must be served in Tulsa County. Sapulpa is located in Creek County.
The St. John Auxiliary has been in existence for 65 years, and we have expanded our volunteer services to include support to St. John Sapulpa.
If you are interested in this opportunity or others, please contact us.
About Ascension St. John Auxiliary
1923 S. Utica Ave., Tulsa, OK 74104, US
The mission of the Ascension St. John Auxiliary is to serve our community with compassionate care and quality support for the patients, families and associates of St. John Medical Center, St. John Owasso, St. John Broken Arrow and St. John Sapulpa.
For more than 65 years, the Ascension St. John Auxiliary has provided volunteer services and funded special projects for Ascension St. John. Today, volunteers are needed in several different areas within four of our main facilities: Ascension St. John Medical Center, Ascension St. John Owasso, Ascension St. John Broken Arrow and Ascension St. John Sapulpa.
The Auxiliary also has a model Junior Volunteer Program designed specifically for high school students, with goals to promote a lifelong commitment to community service and encourage medical career exploration.
Volunteer opportunities range from assisting professional staff in their patient care roles to manning guest services-related areas like our gift shops, information desks and flower delivery. Ascension St. John volunteers also greet and comfort families in emergency and surgical waiting areas and help with the patient admission and release processes.
Proceeds from the gift shops go toward special projects of the hospitals, such as facility improvements and expansions, as well as technology like digital mammography units and the da Vinci surgical robot that impacts lives in our community for years to come.
