Do you enjoy working with children? We are looking for a volunteer to assist the Children’s Advocate at YWCA's Pathways for Women housing program.
Children's Advocate Group/Activity Assistants The Children’s Advocate Group/Activity Assistants will help provide childcare, create activity groups, and special events for children of all ages while their parents attend required classes. These activity groups will help to enhance the child’s interpersonal, educational, social skills, creative ability and physical health. There are two types of groups we need assistants for.
Basic Groups: Volunteers will assist the advocate in providing childcare for meetings that clients (their parents) are required to take such as Housing Resident Meetings, Renters Certification Classes or WRAPS groups. In these groups, we offer a variety of activities- including arts and crafts, group games, team games, and board games.
Special Activities and Events:
These include "themed" or YWCA hosted sponsors events. These include groups and events for children and at times their parents. Some examples of this include Birthday celebrations, back to school events, and holiday events. These groups include interaction with YWCA sponsors and people in the community. Volunteer will need to be outgoing and feel comfortable interacting with the shelter families, YWCA sponsors, and community members. Children of all ages participate in these groups (from infant to 17 yrs.)
By helping the Children’s Advocate support children and teenagers of the Pathways for Women housing program, you will be supporting and helping to empower the whole family system.
