My Girlfriend’s House, a Capitol Heights nonprofit is currently looking for college students that would be interested in an internship opportunity with our organization. Internships with My Girlfriend’s House provide students with valuable work experience and the opportunity to gain hands-on knowledge in a professional setting. We make sure students are gaining the proper work experience needed to further educational knowledge.
We currently have two unpaid intern positions available: Human Resources.
The Human Resources Intern will assist with volunteer recruitment, coordination of new intern hiring, and administration of staff documentation. Work will include management volunteers and committees, data collection and analysis, and staff training and development. The intern will contribute to the overall program productiveness by providing feedback on current practices and ideas for future development.
- Develop operations manual for all major office tasks and volunteer positions
- Develop volunteer handbook
- Develop accounting manual
- Develop handbook for virtual and classroom mentors
- Interview volunteer candidates and conduct appropriate background checks
- Provide training to new volunteers as necessary

Description
My Girlfriend’s House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of professional women dedicated to both community service and friendship.
We work to improve the lives of at-risk middle and high school young ladies in Maryland, Virginia and D.C., with personal care items, school supplies and clothing, and helps them prepare for adulthood and the workplace with scholarships, mentoring and internship opportunities.
